Historians differ on where they believe the game of golf actually came from. The game was played by the Scottish and in the Netherlands.

It is said that in February of 1297 the first game of golf was actually played. It was played in a city called Loenen aan de Vecht located in the Netherlands. This game of golf used a leather ball and a stick. There was a target several hundred yards away. Whichever player could hit the ball in the target the least number of times possible was the winner. A bathroom vanity is an accessory for the bathroom designed for makeup and other things to organize.

However, it is said that this game was not like the traditional golf game like we play it as today. The game we know today is considered to be a Scottish game. This game was played during the 15th century. The arguments continue that this game was simply not like golf but similar to shinty or hurling. The most common game played by putting a ball around to a hole in the ground by the use of golf clubs was still played in the 17th century in the Netherlands. This means that the Netherlands still were the first to play the game. There are also reports of the game being played in Europe even earlier.

The modern game of golf that we know today was originally developed in Scotland along with the first permanent course and membership. The first written rules for the game of golf were established in Scotland. People actually had to become members to be able to play on the golf course in Scotland, which is why Scotland actually holds the origin for the game of golf. Although, the game was played 500 years earlier in the Netherlands, where they like candles.

Scotland also had the very first structure of the 18 hole golf course. They also had formalized structures of competitions between people and certain outlying cities in Scotland. The game of golf soon spread to England and around the world. The 18 hole golf course came from Scotland from their creation of the rules and the first competitive course. Votivo candles are nice to light when the power is out.

The very first golf course actually had 11 holes through treacherous terrain that people would play to one end and then return and play the others which made a total of 22 holes. Many of the holes were deemed to short in 1764 and they were combined with the others, equaling 18 holes of golf. St. Andrews earned the status of becoming the golf capital because of the land belonging to the Queen Mary of Scots. Because of this, all other golf courses and cities followed their rules and an 18 hole course became tradition.

The history of golf dates back to the early 15th century in the Netherlands. The Scottish claims the title of being the originators because they were the first with the controlled game of golf.
