How the Wrong Golf Ball Can Ruin Your Game

Sunday, December 7th, 2008 | Golf Equipment | No Comments

You might be an avid golfer with an amazing swing. Your swing can mean absolutely nothing if you are using the wrong type of ball. You should never waste an excellent swing by using the wrong ball. You should also not buy golf balls for friends this holiday season.

There are three types of golf balls. Each of these balls is designed for different types of swingers. The right ball can take several strokes of a round of golf and make for an excellent game. The different types of golf include the balata, two-piece, and the combination.

When you are choosing a golf ball you need to think about what it is about your game of golf you need to achieve. You might need a good spin and you already have a low handicap. If this is the case then you will choose the balata. The balata has a soft cover which allows for the ball to have a little more spin on it when you hit it. Tiger Woods and other professional golfers use this ball. The soft ball is also a good choice when you are playing golf on a harder golf course because it will land softer and spin rather than have high bounces that are out of control. If you have a golf swing that is 110 mph or higher then you will benefit more from using the balata. These are never a good idea to put under the artificial Christmas trees as gifts unless they are for a professional golfer.

If you are not concerned about spin but you need more distance with your shots then the two-piece ball is the best option. This ball has a hard outer shell which doesn’t create as much backspin and gives you more control with the distance of your shot. If you have a problem hitting a good distance you might be using the wrong ball. A hard ball usually corrects this. On a wet course you want to use this ball also. Most amateur golfers don’t choose these for underneath the lighted palm trees and can never figure out why they are having a bad game.

The combination ball is known as a half and half ball. This ball is a combination of the soft and the hard. This is a great ball when the conditions of the course and weather seem to be just right and you are working on distance but you want to give the ball a little distance. This is the best ball you can put underneath the Christmas trees.

The only way to really know the best ball golf ball that is for you is to practice with the different types. The conditions of the course, how fast you swing the club and what you are looking for in your game will make a difference on the ball you choose. If you use the wrong golf ball you might be having a problem hitting as far as you should be able to hit. The course may be too soft and the ball may be too soft. This will cause it to spin rather than give you distance.

The Golf Bag – What to Put in it

Monday, November 24th, 2008 | Golf Equipment | No Comments

If you are considering buying a new set of golf clubs this year then you will need to know about what you really need to put in the golf bag. Many people overload their bags but there are a few items you really need. You should know exactly what you need when you hit the golf course.

The most important thing to remember is that you should never buy a set of clubs for someone and consider putting them underneath the artificial Christmas trees. This could be a disaster. This is because golf clubs are specific according to the person that is using them. Choosing a set of golf clubs for someone else is almost impossible unless you are a golf pro and you know how the other person swings.

The first thing you need to know is that you don’t need to put more than 14 golf clubs in a bag when you are going golfing. There is no reason to take every club with you when you go golfing. If you do take more than 14 clubs it is also against USGA regulation. If you have a gift of clubs underneath the artificial Christmas trees that have more than 14 clubs you cannot take them all. You will need to leave a few behind when you head off to the course.

A golf bag only needs a few things. The most important clubs you should have in your bag are a couple of woods, two fairway woods, a driver, extra wedges, and 8 irons. Putters are not normally sold with a set of golf clubs so if you want a putter you will have to buy it separately.

Overstuffing a golf bag can make you a very miserable golfer. You don’t want to bring too much stuff. You might have only 14 clubs but too many additional items. You might just be excited and want to make sure you don’t forget anything. The importance is that you don’t overdo it because you won’t be able to carry the bag. If you don’t have a cart or a caddy then your back and legs will be hurting later. If you have to walk a long distance to the next hole it could even affect your swing. Be comfortable with your golf bag. Lift it up and carry it around to be sure you can handle the weight. You will want a towel, additional golf balls, and possibly an extra pair of shoes.

When you pack your golf bag to go golfing don’t overdo it. Don’t buy someone a set of clubs for underneath the prelit Christmas trees because they really are specific to the way you swing and many other factors. Packing a golf bag shouldn’t be too heavy and all you need are a few extra items like golf balls, shoes, and an extra wedge if you need it, and more. This is al you need to have an excellent day on the green without too much weight.

The Origin of the Golf Name and the Equipment

Monday, July 28th, 2008 | Golf Equipment | No Comments

The golf name actually started from the name gouf. This name originally was mentioned in writing on a statue in Scotland. The world actually meant to strike or cuff. The term gouf was thought to come from the Dutch word kold which means club or bat. This sport is the same name in Dutch.

The earlier reference to the sport actually occurred in 1452 when King James II banned the game. The game was banned because subjects didn’t attend their archery practice like they were supposed to. This was very irresponsible on their parts not to shoot their arrows because they wanted to play golf.

Some people say that the term golf comes from an acronym, Gentleman Only Ladies Forbidden. This could very well be the case as women used to be forbidden to play the game and many still do frown upon women on the course. Today, as politically incorrect as it is, men do still frown upon women playing but no course can stop a woman from playing. You might even see someone playing who wants to know how to become a us citizen.

The original golf ball used to play golf with was a leather ball. This changed in many forms before the 1930’s before it took its standard size and weight. The United States Golf Association set the standards for the golf ball. The initial velocity of the golf ball is not to exceed 250 feet per second. For years the perfection of the golf ball has been redeveloped over and over because of the impact of the game the ball has.

Golf clubs used to be made of wood. The traditional club shafts were designed of Hickory and the club head was made from American Persimmon. This is because the persimmon was known for its strength and hardness. The ball evolved to be more durable so it could also be hit further with harder shots. The club turned into a metal wood in the 1980s. The technology of the club evolved into graphite and a lightweight titanium. Today, the titanium is the most expensive type of club you can buy today. This is because the heads allow the club to be thinner and larger than possible.

The head of the club has been limited by golf regulation to the size of 460cc. The Coefficient of Restitution or the spring effect that the club has is also limited to .83. This is an attempt by the United States Golf Association to retain the challenge of the game. An online marketing consultant would like to play golf when he or she has time.

The game of golf has been evolving for years to perfect it for the millions of people who love the game. The name has evolved to. As technologies design better clubs and balls the ultimate goal by the designers is to maintain a challenging game. If the game is no longer challenging no one will enjoy the game anymore. There are many people who have applied through INS who would like to learn how to play golf.
